A recent study conducted by the market research firm, The NPD Group, discovered some interesting facts about the consumer-behavior of the child users of iPhones and iPad: Kids spend on average an hour a day, 5 days a week, using a tablet, iPod Touch, iPhone, or another smartphone.
Gaming, no surprise there, appeared to be the most popular type of kids apps; with an average 6.5 apps installed per device. There were an average of 12 apps for children on a typical smartphone phone or tablet. The apps for downloading music and for taking pictures came second and third in popularity.
The NPD industry analyst Aninta Frazier said that, ““The wide variety and sheer volume of free entertainment content available for app devices is clearly having an impact on kids and the way they play.” She further said in her statement, ““While there are a number of engaging and entertaining apps available to kids, many are used and abandoned after a short time, so it’s important to get a clear, factual picture of the role that apps are playing in kids’ lives.”
